Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, Nigerian soccer star Asisat Oshoala and the country's U20 women's team Falconets have been nominated for various categories of the 2017 Aiteo CAF Awards.

The nominations which was released on today by the Confederation of African Football saw Rohr shortlisted along with Egypt's Hector Cuper and L'Hussein Amoutta of Wydad Athletic Club.

Under the German tactician, Nigeria qualified for next year's FIFA World Cup in Russia and the team is also on course to making it to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.


Reigning Africa queen Oshoala will have the opportunity to retain her crown following her inclusion in the top three finalists for the African Women Footballer of the Year honour.

Oshoala who had a fantastic debut season with Dalian Quanjian in the Chinese Women's Super League is up against Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene of Cameroon and South Africa's Cheristina Kgatlana.

The Ikorodu-born player clinched the CWSL title, FA Cup bronze medal and as well as finishing as the league top scorer with 12 goals.

Elsewhere, Nigeria's Falconets will vie with Ghana's U20 side Black Princesses and South Africa's senior women's team Banyana Banyana for the Women's National Team of Year accolade.

While the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Cameroon's Indomitable Lions and Pharaohs of Egypt will contend for the men's National Team of the Year top prize.

The Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
