Aberdeen FC have signed Manchester City midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali on loan until the end of the current football season.

 Nwakali, 21-year-old, has joined up with the Scottish club in Dubai for their winter training camp.

The Nigeria international has been at City since January 2014 but has been sent out on loan to various clubs in Spain and Norway.

The central holding midfielder found the net four times in 26 appearances for Sogndal last season in the Tippeligan.

“Manchester City have been very keen for Chidi to get some competitive game time and it’s a deal we’ve been working on for a couple of months now, so I am delighted to welcome Chidi to the club," coach Derek Mclnnes told Aberdeen's website.

“I’m sure he will be a positive addition to our squad.”

The 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup champion's signing is subjected to a work permit for the move to be confirmed.
