President of the Confederation of African Football, Ahmad Ahmad has reaffirmed his commitment to the development and promotion of women's football on the continent.
Ahmad made the remark while addressing the press at the Kigali Convention Centre in Kigali last Monday, during his three-day official visit in Rwanda.
The CAF boss who was a guest speaker at the Forum for the African Union of Broadcasting, stated that the continental football governing body will support and encourage the practice of the women's game.
"We fund different women football competitions on the continent; we need to engage women into the sport so that they can reach a high level," said Ahmad.
"Under my presidency, CAF is resolutely determined to support the mass practice of women football, encourage the initiatives, and engage football in the emancipation of women."
Ahmad was accompanied to Rwanda by CAF's Communication Advisor, Hedi Hamel and he visited the Kigali Memorial Centre to pay his tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
