Chairman of Confluence Queens Supporters Club, Moses Bako says he is not disappointed with the team after losing to Bayelsa Queens, though, it was a painful defeat.

Confluence Queens fell 2-0 to visiting Bayelsa Queens courtesy of two first half goals from captain and midfielder Joy Jerry in their opener of the 2017-18 Nigeria Women Football League season.

Bako who was present at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, was satisfied with the team's performance, but believes they can do better as the NWFL term progresses.

He, however, faulted the defence for the goals conceded, describing it as "silly mistakes" made by the defenders which could have been dealt with.

"In football, there is always a winner and a loser; so I'm not disappointed that Confluence Queens lost at home in their first game of the campaign," Bako tells Ultimasportsnet.com.ng in an exclusive chat.

"Confluence Queens came up against a Bayelsa Queens side who were outstanding on the field of play and so they stumbled when it mattered the most.

"Our defence was caught off guard and we paid dearly for it, thus allowing our opponents to score two cheap goals from silly mistakes.

"The defeat will serve as a wake up call to the coaching crew to look into the lapses in the team and try to amend them ahead of their next league encounter," he added.

The 52 years old who is also a strong women's football advocate, urged players of the Lokoja-based club to forge ahead from the loss, stating it will help them get better.

Confluence Queens will travel to Owerri the capital of Imo state to keep a date with the newly promoted Heartland Queens who also lost to Sure Babes in their opening fixture.
