South Korea have become the latest country to qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France following their resounding play-off win over Philippines.

South Korea thrashed Philippines 5-0 in yesterday's encounter after both sides finished third in their respective groups at the eight-team Asian Women's Cup in Jordan.

Cho So-hyun hit a brace, while Jang Sel-gi, Lee Mi-na and Lim Seon-joo contributed the other goals which saw the Taegeuk Ladies claimed the fifth and final spot from the Asian continent.

The South Koreans remained unbeaten and did not concede a goal in their four group games, though, they narrowly missed out on the semifinals after scoring one goal less than Japan.

They have now qualified for the global women's soccer event on two previous occasions, in 2011 and 2015 and reached the last 16 of the world cup finals three years ago in Canada

Australia, Japan, China PR and Thailand have since booked their respective places in next year's World Cup having advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Cup on Tuesday ahead of the title decider on Friday.
