Olarenwaju poses with her award
Equatorial Guinea and Sunshine Queens defender Tobiloba Olarenwaju has won the Naija Women Football League player of the month of May award.
This was confirmed by the organisers of the Naija Women Football League Awards on their official twitter handle on Friday evening.
Olarenwaju was outstanding in May for Sunshine Queens and helped the Owena Mermaids finished top of the log in Group B at the end of the first round of the Nigeria Women Football League.
The former Confluence Queens skipper was crucial for her team and was a rock in the back as her effort ensured three wins in four games for the Akure based side, including scoring from a well taken free-kick against FC Robo Queens in week 5.
The managerial accolade went to Ogbonna Whyte of Ibom Angels who beat Abia Angels boss Ann Chiejiene and Matthew Wemimo of Sunshine Queens.
Ogbonda was more outstanding in the month of May, guiding his side to three wins, including an away victory in Owerri against Heartland Queens and a draw with his former team Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt.
The Rivers state born coach is also one of the two coaches in the NWFL that went unbeaten in the first round of the Nigerian topflight division.
The Naija Women Football League Player and Manager of the Month winners was selected by a combination of votes from a panel of Women Football experts and jurists.
