Nigeria international Alex Iwobi is close to committing his future to Arsenal after agreeing a new long-term deal with the North London outfit.
Mirror Football writes that Iwobi has agreed terms on a new improved contract with Arsenal following talks which began at the end of the previous football season.
The Nigerian is contracted to the Premier League club until June 2020 but he is set to prolong his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2022 when he signs the new deal.
The new deal will also ward off interests from several clubs including Italian Serie A team SS Lazio who are monitoring the situation of the Super Eagles player
According to ilmessaggero, Lazio views Iwobi as a replacement for departed Felipe Anderson who left the Italian side for Westham United for a club record transfer fee of £36m.
However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal will be willing to sell Iwobi as it is understood that the English club will ask for a sum of €25m for the Nigerian.
The 22 years old joined Arsenal at the age of eight, rose through the club's youth ranks before making his senior debut in 2015 under former coach Arsene Wenger against Sheffield Wednesday in a League Cup game.
