Nigerian top coach Salisu Yusuf has been caught on camera collecting cash from men who disguised themselves as football agents.
In a footage recorded in September 2017, Yusuf was seen receiving a sum of $1,000 from the undercover journalists to influence his players selection for the 2018 CHAN in Morocco.
The video recording which was captured by Ghanian investigate journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas is being broadcast for the first time by the BBC News Africa.
Yusuf, an assistant coach to Gernort Rohr at this year's FIFA World Cup in Russia, was also promised 15% of the players' contracts as other financial incentives.
"So if anything goes through and these players are able to get their contracts, you will get 15% of that contract," one of the reporters posing as an agent told Yusuf to which he replied; "they will be in CHAN."
Although, the players were not mentioned in the footage neither was it revealed if they made it to the championship where Nigeria lost to the hosts Morocco in the final.
In a statement issued by the BBC, the 56-year-old denied committing any offense or wrongdoing, while adding that the money was offered to him by the undercover journalists and the exact amount was $750 and not $1,000 as claimed by Anas.
According to the code of ethics of the world football governing body, FIFA, officials are not allowed to collect any cash gifts that gives rise to suspicion of bribe.
The former Kano Pillars and Enyimba gaffer was made the substantive manager of the Super Eagles in 2016 following the dismissal of Sunday Oliseh.
