Cameroon made a bright start in their campaign at the 2018 COSAFA Women's Championship by putting eight goals past Mozambique at the Wolfson Stadium on Thursday.
The Cameroonian side who are making their first appearance at regional competition, showed class and quality in dispatching their opponents.
Mpeh Bissong led the way for the Indomitable Lionesses with three goals, the first hat-trick of the tournament, minutes after Raissa Mbappe had netted a brace for coach Joseph Ndoko's side.
There were further goals from Abena Nino, Charlene Meyong and Agnes Ndaka as the Lionesses roar to the comprehensive defeat and thereby sending a strong message to other competitors.
In the other Group B clash, Zambia recorded a 2-0 win over Lesotho as the She-Polopolo claimed the maximum points in their opening fixture of event.
Captain Misozi Zulu and forward Barbara Banda were on target in both sides of the encounter for the Zambians who take on high-scoring Cameroon in their next game on Saturday.
While in Group C, Marjory Nyaumwe's lone strike in the first half handed Zimbabwe a slim 1-0 win over Namibia, in an encounter the two teams missed plenty scoring opportunities.
