Nigeria bounced back to winning ways by hammering Romania 4-1 in the third-place match of the four-nation invitational women's tournament in China.

 Super Falcons who are preparing for this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in France, began the year with a 3-0 loss to hosts China last Thursday but got back on track with the convincing win over the Romanians.

Falcons took the lead late in the game, on 44th minute, through Kazakhstani-based forward Chiwendu Ihezuo after a tough time breaking their opposition's defense.

Led 1-0 at half time, the African champions increased their lead to 2-1 nine minutes into the restart of the game when Onome Ebi found the net few moments after the Europeans had equalised.

Looking to get the job done and end their participation at the four-day tourney on high, Sweden-based midfielder Rita Chikwelu netted on the 68th minutes to end Romania's hopes of a comeback.

Seven minutes from time, Brighton & Hove Albion forward Ini Umotong got on the scorer-sheet to seal the 4-1 rout for coach Thomas Dennerby's side.

The Nigerian team will be hoping to maintain this victory when they take part in next month's 12-nation football tournament in far away Cyprus.
