Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo is keen on a return to the Premier League this month after spending two years at Changchun Yatai in China.

Ighalo's Changchun Yatai suffered relegation in the Chinese Super League last season despite scoring 21 goals in 28 matches.

The Nigerian who has been playing in China since his £20m switch from Watford in January 2017, recently told BBC Sport he wants to remain at the top level.

"Playing in the second division is not in my plans, so I need to weigh my options well," the 29-year-old Lagos-born player said.

"There's the African Cup of Nations next year to think about and I need to keep playing at a highly competitive level."

And now, Sky Sports News claims that the Nigeria international is expected to fly into the UK this week to sort out his future before the transfer window closes.

During his first season with the Hornets in 2014, Ighalo found the net 20 times to help the club gain promotion to the topflight league from the Championship.

He became a popular figure in Herfordshire, forming a formidable and successful partnership with Troy Deeney at Vicarage Road to the delight of the fans.

He had superb debut campaign in the Premier League, however, the goals dried up in the following term and he failed to score in his last 15 appearances.

Shortly after joining Changchun, the former Udinese and Granada frontman maintained his preference was to stay in England. He had previously rejected an offer from Hebai China Fortune.
