Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama wants to play football again and he hopes to make a 'positive return' to the game after two years.

The former Super Eagles shot-stopper last turned out for Lille in April 2017, having made 164 appearances for the French club since his switch from Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv in June 2011.

He was, however, released by Lille on August 31, 2018 by mutual consent following a disagreement between the player and the club's management.

But the 36 years old who has had a long way recovering from an injury, is determined to carry on playing despite his time away from the game.

"I have put the past behind me as I continue to train and hoping to make a positive return," Enyeama told BBC Sport.

"I've received some offers in Israel and Turkey. But at this stage in life I want to make family a priority when I need to make a move, because they are very settled here in France.

"Goalkeepers have a long lifespan in football and I believe I still have so much to offer.

"I'd be the first to stop when I know I cannot give my best. I continue to train at home hoping for the best," he insisted.

A French League Cup finalist with Lille, Enyeama kept 17 clean sheets from 35 league matches during the 2013-14 season and he became the first goalie to be named French Ligue 1 African Player of the Season.

He represented Nigeria's Super Eagles 101 times and helped his country to winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, having played at the 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 editions.

Enyeama who made his senior debut 17 years ago, was part of the Nigerian team at the 2002, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups before retiring from international football in October 2015.
