Seasoned women's football advocate, Moses Bako is expecting a 'tough and competitive' Nigeria Women Premier League when the new season kicks off in March 2019.

Bako was amongst dignitaries that were present at the Agege Township Stadium when Bayelsa Queens emerged champions after a 2-0 defeat of Nasarawa Amazons in the final match of the 2017-18 NWPL Super 4 last month.

The Kogi state-born was highly impressed with the level of play displayed by Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels in entertaining spectators at the venue.

Speaking exclusively to Ultima Sports Net, Bako who has been a voice in the women's game, championing the course of equal rights for men and women in football, expects nothing less than fireworks this campaign.

"First of all, I want to use this medium to congratulate the staff and management of Bayelsa Queens on winning the NWPL in grand style in Lagos state," Bako began.

"I was highly impressed with the standard of football at the Super 4 competition. I mean, the players brought in their A-game and blew us away.

"It goes to show that the NWPL has grown in heaps and bounds. And without a doubt, this season will be tough and competitive, from what we've seen so far.

"Clubs are beginning to appoint new coaches as well as signing new players to fortify their squad. I can tell you that many teams will be surprised in the upcoming term."
